What exactly does domiciliary care include?

Care at home (domiciliary care) covers a range of tasks that support someone to stay living in their own home. Tasks can include personal care (support with all aspects of washing, dressing, hair care), companionship, medication support, light domestic tasks, overnight care, specialist conditions, etc.

Is this type of care right for my situation (or my loved one’s)?

We will discuss your or your loved one’s needs over the phone and arrange an in-person assessment if we feel we will be able to support those needs. Someone from our management team will come out to meet you in your own home to complete an assessment prior to care commencement. They will discuss your needs and put together a program of care with you. We will work together to formulate a suitable tailored Care Plan that promotes independent living, that also reflects your wishes and lifestyle.

Is there funding available for care?

Yes. Depending on your individual circumstances you can approach your local authority to complete a financial assessment. If you meet their criteria, they may be able to assist you with funding some or all your care.

Are your carers qualified, trained, and background-checked?

Yes, absolutely. All our staff have background checks including a full job work history, references and DBS checks. They received full induction training and shadow experienced staff before they are ready to work alone. Afterwards they receive regular ongoing and condition specific training.

Can care be flexible and adapt as needs change?

Yes of course, we will always work with you to make sure that the package of care you receive is working for you.

How quickly can care start?

To make sure we provide care or support safely we need to complete a pre-service assessment with you as well as your care plan and risk assessments prior to any start date. We can often do this quickly, please give us a call to discuss your situation – we have been known to start on the same day!

Will I (or my loved one) have the same carer consistently?

We would love to give you the same person every day but unfortunately that is just not possible, we must cater for holidays and sickness. So, we do our very best to make sure you have a small team that you get to know to provide your service.

How do you match carers to clients?

When we complete our pre-service assessment we ask about your history, likes, dislikes, interests and cultural background so we can best match you to our staff. We do our utmost to provide you with carers that you have a positive connection with, although we do also understand that not everyone gels. You do have a say in the carers that are sent to you, however, at times, this may affect our ability to provide your care/service at your desired time.

Will you always come at the same time?

We will arrange a mutually agreed window of time for your visits with us. We will always email you the week before so that you know the times for the week ahead and the staff member who is coming.

Can family members be involved and kept informed?

Yes, with your consent we can share our online records with your loved ones so that they can see what has been happening. This is particularly useful for families who are separated by distance.
